SEC was founded in 1955 by Mr John Rubython, the small electrical business worked as a subsidiary to a much larger engineering company (Service Engineering Company) hence the ‘SEC’. In the early 1980’s two former apprentices (Jeff Mayo and Ian Shepperdson) oversaw a split from the main company and started working on ‘niche’ contracts within the Aggregates and Quarrying Sector.

This partnership enabled the current company to grow and expand into the wide and varied field of specialised electrical contracting. In 2004, 75% of the shares were purchased by chief executive Marcus Bullock who has over 50 years’ experience within the Electrical contracting industry.

His commercial focus has enabled the company to springboard into the commercial sector, schools, colleges, office and warehouse environments whilst still maintaining a firm hold on the industrial Aggregates and Quarrying Sectors, working for blue chip clients such as Heidelberg (formerly Hansons) Cemex, Tarmac and several Large Brick companies.

Today SEC have a workforce of over 40 directly employed personnel and also rely on teams of excellent sub-contractors some of which the relationship goes back to those early bygone days.
